Alexander Ross was one of the greatest architect in Scotland. Designer of St Andrews Cathedral in Inverness, and many castles, hotels, schools and churches throughout the Highlands, his story is being told for the first time in this wonderful new book.
Losing his father at an early age, he built his career through talent and hardwork, rising to become the Provost of Inverness with extensive business interests. He dedicated his life not only to architecture, but also to public service, committing time and energy to organisations that aimed to improve the lives of ordinary Highlanders.
The Architecture of Inverness is accompanied by a mobile app that is the ideal pocket guide for anyone visiting the area. The app utilises your phones GPS to provide information on buildings nearby, directions on how to visit buildings of particular interest.
Importantly, it also includes information on where to get a cup of coffee along the way!
